Delphine Cobbaert is a Belgian textile artist, designer and craftswoman.
Her artistic journey began when graduating in textile design at KASK Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Ghent.
Delphine masters the technique of weaving using her hands and with respect for tradition. Her production process is layered, allowing intuition to have an impact on the material and the shape. In this way she discovered and developed a self-expression in her art and design through the medium of textiles.
Her work is characterized by a harmony of subtle, layered lines of fragile and rough textures, colors and natural materials. Creating inner security is the most important experience. This translates into a design that feels natural, without excess.
"Textile is not just an understanding for me, but it is a way of dealing with the senses. Seeing (the light), hearing (vibration) and feeling (touch) are stimulated by textiles. In our daily lives we are constantly in contact with textiles in an unconscious way because it is embedded in our human lives in different ways. The way in which we, as an individual, react to this, determines a large part of our identity."
